The UCF football team’s season opener against Georgia Tech at Bobby Dowd Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 19, has been moved from ESPN to ABC.
The move came after the ACC moved its matchup between Miami and Louisville from the afternoon slot to a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. That, in turn, opened a space for the Knights versus Yellow Jackets game to move from ESPN to ABC in the 3:30 spot.
The Virginia versus Virginia Tech game was originally set for the 7:30 spot, but the game was postponed to a later date following positive COVID-19 test results and quarantining of Virginia Tech football players.
It forced the conference and the network to make some alterations to the TV schedule.
UCF was set to open the 2020 season against North Carolina on Friday, Sept. 4, but that game along with the Knights’ Week 2 matchup against Florida International were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
