Kids can gather at the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford on Sept. 19 for Community Day, a day of fun making things, tending to a garden and watching a bubble show.
Community Day, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature activities on all four floors of the science center, including Mini CT MakeFest, Family Harvest Day and a demonstration by Casey Carle of Bubblemania. Some of the events will be streamed live on the Center’s Facebook page.
Mini CT MakeFest is a showcase of makers’ creations, to encourage kids to make things themselves. Mario the Maker Magician will do a performance, and Tyler Green, a special effects makeup artist and inventor based in Winsted, will do a demonstration and show some items he created.
Family Harvesting will take place on the Center’s rooftop, where Michaela’s Garden is. Participants will learn about green rooftops, do a project and harvest seeds from Connecticut’s State Children’s Flower, four o’clocks.
Admission is $5. Tickets are timed and must be bought in advance. Masks are required for all participants, and social distancing will be enforced. Connecticut Science Center is at 250 Columbus Blvd. Details: ctsciencecenter.org/visit/events/. Tickets: shop.ctsciencecenter.org/ga/48980.
